Design Qualifications
Marlene developed a wide variety of design experience early in her career – servicing residential, hospitality and institutional clientele. Working for Today’s Business Interiors, she focused on contract design. She studied hospitality design under Robert J. Chaban, contributing her talents to several hotel renovation projects in British Columbia, and Toronto’s Royal York Hotel. At Equipment Planning Associates, her design emphasis was on Canadian hospital interiors, including Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Later, she worked in Residential Merchandising and Consulting for homebuilders in Southwestern Ontario – contributing to several Southwestern Ontario Homebuilder Awards.
In 2001 Marlene expanded to Mississauga Ontario, enjoying the diverse cultural exposure while working for an award-winning Developer / Builder on residential high-rise projects in and around the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2006 J.D. POWERS and Associates gave Marlene’s Home Décor Centre’s high ratings for customer satisfaction in the GTA Area.

Current Projects
Marlene is currently working with clients in several condominium developments
– custom -designing interiors ranging from the innovative Hearthstone Senior’s Condo
to a million-dollar luxury Penthouse Suite.
Marlene partners with her husband’s construction division of Card and Company working
on several residential renovations and new commercial designs and building developments.
Marlene combines timeless tradition with a modern edge, along with a desire to ensure that
every design works to meet the needs of her clientele.
A deep understanding of building details, shape, form and colour, combined with the ability
to really listen to clients’ needs has contributed to the success of Card and Company.
Card and Company is dedicated to staying current and informed, through continuing education,
on Building Code requirements, Construction Industry Standards, accessibility issues and
environmental awareness.
